Archdiocese of Philadelphia Announces the Appointment of Dr. Jason Sorgini as Its New Chief Human Resources Officer

Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D. has appointed Dr. Jason Sorgini as the new Chief Human Resources Officer for the Archdiocese effective January 4, 2027.

In making this appointment, Archbishop Pérez said, “I am filled with joy to welcome Dr. Sorgini as the new Chief Human Resources Officer for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. His deep experience and extensive knowledge in this key administrative component will be an asset to our entire local Church. He is also a man of deep faith who balances the pastoral and temporal facets of the human resources world with great poise. I look forward to the many contributions he will make to our shared work of forming Missionary Disciples in parishes, schools, and ministries throughout the region and ask that all join me in praying for the fruit of his work.”

Dr. Sorgini’s career features progressive leadership responsibilities and robust academic achievement. Most recently, he served as assistant superintendent for the Methacton School District in Eagleville, Montgomery County, and previously as principal of Methacton High School. Both roles included significant responsibilities for human resources management.

“I am honored to have been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia,” Dr. Sorgini said. “I look forward to supporting the dedicated employees and staff who serve our parishes, schools, ministries, and communities each day. I believe human resources must be mission-centered and people-centered. Our work should reflect the values of the Church. Every employee should be treated with dignity, respect, fairness, and compassion.

“My priority will be to listen carefully and build strong relationships. I want to ensure employees have the support, resources, and clarity they need to do their work well. When we invest in the people who serve the Archdiocese, we strengthen the mission they carry out for others. I look forward to advocating for our employees and staff. Together, we can continue building a culture rooted in collaboration, service and faith. I am grateful for this opportunity and eager to work alongside colleagues throughout the Archdiocese.”

Dr. Sorgini holds a doctorate and a Master of Education degree from Gwynedd-Mercy University, a post-doctoral certificate from California University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Arts degree and certificate in Human Resources Management from Villanova University and a bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University.

Other roles of leadership include service with the Lower Providence Township Fire Department, and service as treasurer and secretary of the Lower Providence Township Sewer Authority. He was elected to two terms and chairman and vice-chairman of the Lower Providence Township Board of Supervisors.

Jason and his wife Elizabeth serve the Church as extraordinary ministers of holy Communion at their parish, Visitation B.V.M. in Trooper, where they attend with their three sons.
