Deacon Cross grew up in Souderton, Pennsylvania and is a member of Saint Agnes Parish in Sellersville where he was an altar server in his youth. He entered Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in the fall of 2019 after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh and Souderton Area High School. Alexander has one older brother and one younger sister.

Eight men comprise the Ordination Class of 2026 for the Church of Philadelphia. Following the conclusion of Mass with the Rite of Ordination, most will be assigned to an archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Archbishop to assist the pastor of a parish in his duties to tend to the pastoral and temporal needs of those entrusted to his care.
